Jonathan Cox is the Deputy Principal of the Senior Years at GEMS World Academy (Singapore).
A graduate of King’s College, London, where he gained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees, Jonathan began his career in education in Dubai.
After two years teaching English Language and Literature, he made a move into Corporate Training, establishing and running companies in the UK, France and Germany providing communications and cultural training to private and public sector organisations around the world.
Latterly he founded a company offering tailored training solutions to international lawyers, bankers and insurance executives.
Jonathan rejoined High School teaching in 2004 as part of the UK Government’s FastTrack Teaching scheme, a programme designed to attract leaders from industry into the state educational system.
For the next six years, Jonathan worked in failing schools in the UK as a Curriculum Area Leader for English. He consistently raised the standards of education in literacy and literature through student-centred curriculum reviews, staff training and support, pupil engagement and, most importantly, communicating a passion for his subject and education in general.
For the last seven years, Jonathan has worked in International Schools in Singapore.
Jonathan has joined GEMS (Singapore) as Academic Advisor, he has worked with hundreds of pupils from over 70 different countries in supporting their general academic progress and applications to universities worldwide. In 2018 he has been promoted to a Deputy Principal of the Senior Years at GEMS World Academy (Singapore). Jonathan brings to GEMS (Singapore) a wealth of experience in designing, delivering and overseeing individually focused needs-based learning.
His wife Rachel is the CAS Coordinator and Senior Years English Teacher. Their sons, Alfie and Charlie are both students at the school.
