Primary Years Teacher: Maternity cover position

Supply/cover teacher vacancies - Secondary Years

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is seeking supply/cover teachers to help during staff absences throughout the academic year.

Preference will be given to applicants with teaching qualifications in IB MYP and DP; however, this is not a requirement.

Start date: ongoing from 14 August 2018

Application close date: until filled

Interviews: ongoing; at GEMS Singapore campus

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized university or college (required)
  • Teacher certification (required)
  • Able to cover at short notice (required)
  • Willing to cover within grade range of 6-12 (11 years old to 18 years old)

Technical Assistant – Educational Technology and Art

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: 4 year BA, BS Degree
  • Associates Art Degree or equivalent Diploma
  • Past experience in educational technology
  • Fluent English language capacity

Reports To: Head of Educational Technology and SY Arts Subject Leader

Job Goal: The Technical Assistant – Educational Technology and Art supports the teaching and learning by preparing, organizing and clearing materials in order for the teachers to facilitate best teaching and learning for our students.

Performance Responsibilities: Roles that the Technical Assistant helps to fulfill in GEMS World Academy (Singapore) includes but are not limited to:

 

Communication:

  • Continues the school culture of kindness and student centeredness.
  • Develops a warm and nurturing relationship with students in your class. Always speak positively about a child. Talk to and listen to children appropriately.
  • Maintains open communication between yourself and the single subject teacher and between other school personnel.
  • Works cooperatively with teachers and other assistants, proactively sharing skills and strengths and seeking assistance from others when required.
  • Refers all questions about curriculum or individual student progress directly to the subject teacher.
  • Is well informed about the daily and weekly schedules and requirements.
  • Becomes familiar with specific expectations and subject needs.
  • Is informed about all expectations and requirements of all teacher assistants by reading staff handbooks, school newsletters and checking emails on a regular basis.

Students:

  • Instructs as directed, students in large or small groups, as needed as part of the established educational program.

  • Monitors and supervises students as relevant and appropriate.

PROCUREMENT OFFICER

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is looking for a detail-oriented, thorough and organized Procurement Officer to oversee purchases and develop new contracts. You will be responsible for procuring high-quality and cost-efficient supplies for the school.

REPORTS TO:              Head of Finance and Operations

JOB SCOPE:

  • Ensures the timely delivery of quality goods at the lowest possible cost:
  • Participates in the selection of suppliers based on a criteria
  • Complies with the Law, procedures and regulations
  • Conducts a comparative analysis of supplier prices
  • Reviews and evaluates the performance of the suppliers
  • Processes the necessary clearance documents
  • Closely liaising with the clearing agents
  • Ensures the proper management of stock.  
  • Manage Inventory of Purchased & Current Items
  • Carries out all necessary procurement activities
  • Manage asset movement
  • Ensures the proper processing of assigned customer/purchase orders  
  • Verifies quantification of orders
  • Verifies that the required order is within the agreed budget
  • Coordinates with the relevant party when processing the orders
  • Submits final invoices to the Finance and Accounts Department
  • Vendor contract management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all vendors and suppliers to GWAS

  • Monitor overall stock levels and escalate overstock/under-stock situations. Work across departments to coordinate forecast and supply plans
  • Direct and coordinate immediate Team efforts to ensure optimum inventory availability and minimal stock risk within departmental KPIs
  • All ad-hoc duties are completed in the timescales as agreed with the Head of Operations and Head of School.

Secretary

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is looking for a competent Secretary to the Leadership team.

Job Purpose: To provide administrative support in a variety of functions to the Leadership team that is focused on increasing the efficiency of the office. The candidate should be able to review, prioritize, direct and delegate a wide variety of complex and confidential requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Leadership team agenda and assist in planning appointments, board meetings, conferences etc
  • Has a broad knowledge and understanding of the company’s operations and business objectives
  • Attend meetings and keep minutes
  • Handle and prioritize all outgoing or incoming correspondence
  • Make travel arrangements
  • Arranges meeting calendar
  • Organizes own workload and priorities on a day-to-day basis using own initiative and knowledge of work
  • Conduct research and prepare presentations or reports as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of prior experience as Secretary or similar role

  • Demonstrates exemplary telephone etiquette and reception intake
